How To Choose The Colours In Your Kitchen

When it comes to kitchen colours, there are two clear categories.

There are the traditional, timeless colours that will see you through the decades and there are the latest trendy, often vibrant colours that come and go.

Some people can be quick to choose the current kitchen colour trends when they’ve got ‘new kitchen tunnel vision’, and I often find myself steering them towards something that is a harmony of the two.

So much so, I’ve recently updated my kitchen showroom display to incorporate a two-tone kitchen that I think unites new trends and timeless classics perfectly.

We’ve combined Fitzroy Hartforth Blue base units with Hunton Porcelain wall units, and topped with a Quartz veined Caesarstone Morland Fog worktop that looks like natural stone.

You’ll note both colours have chunky posts, with Oak drawer boxes and solid brass handles for a contemporary take on the classic shaker, that looks a bit more luxurious and bespoke.

If you’re looking for kitchen colours that are more modern, The Porter by Second Nature in Silver Grey is always a winner. It’s available in Gloss and Matt which give two completely different but equally contemporary finishes.

The beauty of combining timeless neutrals with bold colours is the opportunity it gives to be more adventurous with accessories.

You can make a real statement with funky bar stools, charismatic lighting or bespoke features on an island, which can be easily updated when the next trend rolls in.
