Timeless Kitchen Design

It’s generally recognised that a kitchen lasts for 10 – 15 years.

Factor in a couple of house moves, it’s no surprise that for the majority of our clients, a kitchen feels like a once in a lifetime purchase.

Because of this, most are happy to (indeed expect to) spend more money on the kitchen than they would any other room in the house.

But whilst lockdown has encouraged many to invest back into their homes, the financial impact on most has meant they’re after value for money, more than ever before.

But what does that mean for kitchens?

It means people want something that’s made to last: in the quality, functional and aesthetic sense.

The first rule of thumb is that a shaker kitchen will always be in fashion.

Traditional and classic, they’ve so far survived every trend thrown at them. And that means something. Lighter, neutral colours are important but if you really want to make a modern, timeless kitchen go for something dark and bold.

The next thing to consider is materials; wood will always be timeless, and can be brought up to date by the colour you use.

The trick is to incorporate some of the latest trends into a classic design, and that’s not always easy to do.
